...still working hard!!

We are still working and it's really tiring. There is a guy that comes around every hour to chech out on our work it is quite frustrating.  Our back really hurts at the end of the day. Luckily there are free showers on the beachfront and there is HOT WATER!! It's great that we are able to take a hot shower after work.

WORK!!

We started working today. We will be apple picking for about 15-20 days. The boss explained us how to work. He doesn't want any bruised fruit! The work is really hard as we have to carry a bag that is attached to our shoulders and fill it up with apples before we empy it into a bin. We must do not less than 10 bins a day!! Geeee, its going to be hard work. We get up at 6 oclock to start a 7 everyday and finish at 5pm.

Bloody bins!!

Lauceston - Cataract Gorge

Launceston's Cataract Gorge extends from the mouth of the South Esk river at King's Bridge and winds it's way up the river to the Trevallyn hydro electric dam 5 kilometres upstream.   About a 15 minute easy walk from the bridge  is the First Basin.  On the north side of the river is well constructed path that clings to the sheer rock face of the gorge.  There is a hiking track on the southern side of the gorge.  The track climbs very steeply to the top of the gorge. There is also a hiking track on the northern side of the gorge.

Latrobe

We got an email from mommy who knew that we were looking for places where we could spot platypuses and she told us that she had found out that we could see some at Warrawee State forest at Latrobe. Latrobe beiing the Platypus capital of the world and its only 12kms from Devonport. We drove off to Latrobe hoping to see some. We stopped at the Visitor center and an old lady there gave us a map and showed us where we could spot some. So we went and we did!!

Penguin

Penguin is home to the Big Penguin and all the bins have cement penguins along the sides. Penguin is also a great place for fishing. There are Troutin the Penguin Creek and many different types of fish in the surrounding sea. There are also sandy beaches that are a good place to swim at high-tide.

Lilico Beach

Lillico Beach is a coastal reserve and penguin colony near Devonport, north west Tasmania. Lillico Beach is 10 minutes west of Devonport (10 kilometres/six miles), just off the Bass highway. This narrow coastal strip is home to a colony of Little Penguins (also known as Fairy Penguins). From the reserve’s viewing platform, you can watch the birds return to their burrows each evening after a day’s hunting in the open ocean. Local volunteers and Parks and Wildlife rangers are on site during the breeding season (September to May) and summer months (mid-December to Mid-February).
Penguins use visual cues to find their way back to their burrows, and can become easily lost and confused by light and noise. Visitors are asked to stay quiet and still and remain on the platform. White clothing should be covered and flash cameras and white light torches should not be used.
