Narawntapu National Park

We read in our guide book that you can easily spot wombats at Narawntapu N.P which is great because we didn't think we would see any. So we went and we did, but they aren't easy to approach  because they are easily scared. Its easier to see them in the evening as thats the time when they usually come out. They are like little bears they are very cute animals.

We also went for a walk in the park on a path where we could easily spot Tasmanian pandemelons.

Binalong Bay

Binalong Bay is a lovely coastal town. It is very hot and the beach there is great, like all the beaches in Tasmania, white sand and transparent water. Spent a great day at the beach!

Douglas-Aspley National Park

Douglas-Aspley N.P is rich in wildlife, cascades and gorges. The road is unsealed but we took a chance and it was great. No one in sight, we decided to take a swim. The water was freeeeezing!!!

Bicheno

Bicheno is a little town along the coast. It's a perfect spot for diving because of the clear water and marine life. We went swimming and there were lots and lots of little fish swimming next to us. There are a few nice sites such as: the Blowhole and Whalers Hill from which we were used to be able to see whales. There are also penguins but we have to trust the sign (below) for that because we didn't see any.

Wineglass Bay

Wineglass Bay from the lookout

The nice weather is back, it was really hot today! We went for 3 hour walk down to Wineglass Bay. First we walked up to the lookout, it takes about 30-45 minutes to walk up. There were lots of people and had to way a while before we could take photos of the magnificent view. Most people just walk to the lookout, take photos and turn back. We decided to go right down to the beach as it was a very hot and sunny day. It took us another 45mins to walk down to the bay. It was quite strenuous because the only way to get down there is to walk down 600 steps, very tiring but it was really really worth it, not too many people on the beach and the water was crystal clear. We had a great day!!!

Freycinet National Park

We wanted to visit Freycinet National Park yesterday and go to Wineglass Bay but the weather was awfull. It's was really windy and raining. So we decided just to go up to the light house and a lookout at Coles Bay.

After that we went back to the van to have supper. It was dark and the storm was coming back. Terrible wind and rain, awfull weather. We decided to sleep on the parking of Coles Bay lookout. We were trying to sleep when we heard scratching at the end of the van. We listened and the noise was carrying on. Ben got out with the flashlight and saw a possum running away. It probably smelt food in the van. We were just about to go back to sleep when we saw little shining eyes in the dark. We switched our headlights on and saw two little spotted quoll. We thought that they might be hungry so we gave them a tin of tuna and they ate everything up!

Fortescue Bay

Today we went to Fortescue Bay, we thought we were just going to stay there a couple of hour and go for walks and take a swim but we ended up spending the whole day there. It was so hot and the water so transparent and there was nobody!! We had the whole place to ourselves. We even so some little pinguins.

Tasman Peninsula

From Eagle hawk Neck to Port Arthur there are lots of sites, lookouts, caves and walks. The sun is out again and it's really nice. We decided to drive from site to site and check them all out such as the Blowhole, Fossil Bay lookout, Devil's Kitchen, Tasman's Arch, Waterfall Bay...

Pirates bay

The view of Pirates Bay and the coastline from the lookout just before Eagle Hawk Neck is stunning. There is a beautiful beach with white sands, blue water and rugged rocky cliffs. Eagle Hawk Neck is a thin strip of land with water on both sides that separates the Peninsula from the rest of Tasmania. This was a barrier to any convicts trying to escape from Port Arthur.

White Beach

A beautiful beach and we know where it's name comes from. I took some to put in a jar when we get back home.

Kingston

We are in Kingston and the bad weather is back. It's quite cold so it's quite difficult to wash ourselves outside with cold water. It doesn't bother Ben at all, who doesn't seem to feel the cold like I do. We went to the charity shops and then went to have lunch in a little park where there were lots of corellas and ducks.
